(It also seems to be more active as well.) I actually prefer Battlegrounds on PS4 over Clan Wars on PC simply due to convenience. I might as well just play it on console since it wouldn't matter. If the game is going to lack custom (imported) maps, decent lobby and rankings systems, and a quality ninja rope. ![]() The console players are almost certainly not going to be chatting via text, which means that we will ONLY be able to communicate with them via voice chat I doubt that console players are going to have access to all of the custom hats / sound banks/ etc that the PC players will via the Steam workshop and self-made contentĤ. ![]() this is going to put PC players at a huge advantage because nobody's gonna want to use a controllerģ. the console players are not going to be able to rope nearly as well as the PC players if the rope is indeed like W:A. the console players will not be able to host any custom PNG maps unless there's a "hostingbuddy" of sorts (then again, we don't even know if this is going to be a feature)Ģ. We can't have an excellent, W:A-like Worms game with tons of customization and game mechanics and features that we want while also supporting cross play. CUSTOMIZATION, COMMUNITY, and DEVELOPER PRESENCE IN-GAME is what we need for an epic Worms game. Team17 at the very least should make the PC version of WMD have all of the features that we want if it's not possible on the consoles, so at least SOME of the player base will be able to host fun custom schemes with custom maps. We shouldn't have to post in Facebook groups and Steam threads just to organize stuff in-game. It's probably gonna be like the others where you click on "player match" or something and you just see the hosted games and join one. A WormNET style lobby system in which people can see games hosted (including the names of custom schemes, etc) and chat with other players? Doubt it. Are we going to see custom PNG maps? Doubt it. I highly doubt that we're going to get the game to dethrone W:A as the greatest simply due to the fact that the game is being developed for consoles as well, with cross play in mind, no less. I'm more or less expecting a console-feeling Worms game at this point. I will be pleasantly surprised if the new Worms game delivers everything that us older W:A players want. ![]() Unfortunately, Team17 has been focused on the money (understandly so) rather than what the community wants. Worms can still be an immensely popular series, but it has to be done right. I think that cross play would help a lot, but what the Worms community REALLY needs is a game made exclusively for the PC without any of the "console-itis" that's hampered the last several titles. If you can't ever find anyone to play, you'll stop trying. It's not so much that PC Worms games aren't viable, it's that the games have been made for every current system without any cross play, so the community has been divided from the start, and Worms games are all about the multiplayer.
